Dreams and Cycles earth

moon

No, not bicycles, but natural Cycles of the heavens and Earth. It is normal in Dreaming, to be in synch (if we live a natural life rather than an artificial one) with the planet and its natural cycles. If we take the analogy of the breath, we might say that the earth breathes in Winter and exhales in Summer. Of course, this is reversed depending on which hemisphere you reside on. The in-breath is for introspection, while the exhaled breath is external events.

Dreaming then, is more easy in Winter, because we sleep longer and there is less light. We gather the Dreamed information and feedback needed before next Summer when we go forth in action to the outside world, continuing our (spiritual) journey. Dreaming may be more fleeting during Summer - more light and heat in action - and we may sleep less. Of course, if you lived in Alaska or Antartica you would have corresponding climatic influence on Dreams.

On a more faster cycle than the slow chase of the seasons, there is the moon's influence once a month. Its gravitational pull affects our bodies because like the tide, we are mostly water. When near the full moon, there may be extended and heightened Dreaming, plus emotional extremes. The term "lunatic" actually came from mental institutions where it was observed by doctors and staff the elevated "craziness" of patients at the full moon. They caught the "moon bug" or "lunar ticks"!!

If we are in control or attend to our own internal cycles of body/mind, by way of meditation, the moon won't have as much influence over you. Your energy and emotions will be much more centred and you will easily "weather the storm".

With earlier generations of indigenous peoples, other heavenly bodies such as meteorites and comets caused huge ripples in even waking consciousness, and solar and lunar eclipses heralded big changes to the waking Dream.
